IISWC-2017 October 1-3, 2017 Seattle, Washington, USA |
Student Travel Assistance Grants
With generous support from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and the IEEE TCCA, IISWC 2017 will offer travel grants for students to defray a portion of their travel cost to both U.S. and international student participants. The size and number of these grants will vary depending on funding availability, the number of student applicants, and their respective priority. Students from groups that are underrepresented in the field of computer science are particularly encouraged to apply.
Recipients do not need to be authors/presenters to qualify for a travel grant.
Student Travel Grant Application Deadline: September 7, 2017 (extended from 9/4)
Notification of Grant: September 9, 2017
Grantees must save original receipts and mail them in or present them at the conference to verify their expenditures.
Grant awards will be made before the early registration deadline.
Expenses will be reimbursed after the conference.
Grantees from U.S. schools must fly with U.S-based carriers for airfare reimbursement.
Awardees will be required to email the travel grant chair a short essay describing their IISWC experience.
Student applicants should use this online form to apply for an IISWC student travel grant.
Student applicants also need to ask their thesis advisor to send an e-mail to the Student Travel Award Chair (mferdman@cs.stonybrook.edu) with the subject line "IISWC Student Confirmation for <Student First Name, Student Last Name>", stating that you are a full-time student pursuing an M.S./Ph.D. or an undergraduate researcher in the areas covered by IISWC. The advisor is also welcome to comment on the potential broader impact of making an award to you (e.g., if the student belongs to an underrepresented group or if the student is unable to attend without a substantial travel grant).
The confirmation email from advisors must be received by the travel grant application deadline. Applications are considered incomplete without it.
